Writing for Results: Core Course

In today’s fast-paced business environment, the ability to write persuasively is a much needed and valuable skill. The focus is on making writing clear and concise, removing ambiguities and other sources of confusion, and delivering actionable information.

Emails That Prompt Action

Poor email writing practices reduce productivity and create confusion rather than improve operational efficiency. Learn how to write emails that are easy to understand in an instant — and to lead by example to increase the quality and productivity of email communications within your organization.

Goal Setting

Written goals help you to set your priorities, identify opportunities and recognize areas for improvement. Without well-defined goals, we tend to focus on too many small things, procrastinate, experience stress and generally be less productive. This learning experience shows you how to write clear and actionable goals.

Writing Proposals

Most proposals are sales-driven instead of customer-driven. Sales-driven proposals are “boiler plate” documents featuring generic product or service descriptions and generalized benefit statements. Customer-driven proposals specifically address the buyer’s needs, expectations and problem issues. This course covers techniques and advice for crafting clear compelling messages and winning proposals that speak to customer needs.

Writing as a Leader

Leaders must  inspire and support employees to achieve better futures for their organizations. This course teaches writing techniques that help leaders convey ideas in ways that propel their businesses forward.

PowerPoint

For all our complaints about PowerPoint, it continues to be an essential part of our business and professional lives. We have used PowerPoint for many years as a presentation resource and more companies are now using it for client “deliverables”. These include reports, proposals, business plans and research findings. This business writing program introduces techniques and tips to help you write PowerPoint slides that are easy to read, professional and memorable.

Editing and Proofreading

This course starts with a concept expressed in the book, On Writing Well, by William Zinsser: “Clear writing is the result of a lot of tinkering.” You will learn techniques professionals use to spot embarrassing mistakes in grammar and usage. You will learn how to spot problems that result from flawed and unclear writing.

Writing Business Plans

Many people have business ideas but if you want to build a business, you need to write a plan that shows the details of how you will establish the business and make it grow. This customized course covers techniques and advice for crafting clear compelling messages and winning plans that speak to customer needs and investor goals. Writing the business plan in “plain English” will make it readable to all audiences.
